About the Artist

I am a contemporary artist working in oils, acrylics, and charcoal. Born in Kerala, India in the 1990s, my passion for art began early—inspired by my mother’s textile work.

Now based in Simcoe County, Ontario, I balance over seven years of social work with my lifelong dream of building a creative career. Working primarily on canvas and paper, my portfolio features bold acrylic paintings, high-contrast graphite shading, vibrant alcohol marker and pastel pieces, and detailed Zentangle illustrations.

About Me

Born in Kerala, India in the 1990s, Mat is a Simcoe County contemporary artist based in Ontario, Canada. His creative foundation was built early by watching his mother transform fabric with her artistic textile work, a spark that grew through college, where he designed and painted large-scale stage backdrops.

After moving to Ontario in 2018, Mat spent over seven years working as a social worker, a path rooted in empathy and human connection. Alongside his career, creating art on canvas and paper remained his essential outlet for focus, balance, and self-expression. Encouraged by family and friends who saw his passion, Mat is now actively pursuing his lifelong goal of building a full-time artistic career.

His current collection spans a diverse range of traditional mediums and styles including bold, expressive acrylic paintings, high-contrast graphite shading, colorful alcohol marker and pastel works, and intricate Zentangle line illustrations. Every piece reflects a dedication to rich detail, striking visual contrast, and thoughtful craftsmanship.
